Depression can come in several flavors. One thing remains constant: when depression is present, it feels nearly impossible to get out of it. This is not the time to expect yourself to “figure it out on my own”. Motivation isn’t readily available (research shows a depressed brain is not one that experiences motivation the same way a neutral-state/ happy brain experiences motivation) nor can be summoned on demand. Learn more clearly what drives depression and how to unlock more of your intuition to find ways out from this “blue” feeling.

Anxiety is one of most pervasive emotions. Our brains are wired to experience anxiety. It has been and can be used as a very strong motivating force; or so it’s designed to be. However, anxiety does a lot of things to us both psychologically and physically that makes managing anxiety much more of a learned skill. Let’s learn together what it will take you to manage the anxiety you feel/ experience through exploring what ways make sense for you!

This work can be a difficult and hard process because the substance, the behavior, the outlet has become more of a problem than originally intended. The substance, the behavior, the outlet was originally intended to be the solution. However, it took some hard left turns along the way and then leaves things in places we never wanted them to go. Doing this work will require a lot of you and you have all the resources you need. You’ll just need to answer one of the most important questions you’ll have to ask yourself: do I really want change? If you believe you do, then let’s get into the work!

Grief is something we all experience….more often than what would we would probably recognize as grief. One of grief’s main components is loss. There is a lot of loss to experience in life; most of it experienced in distinct moments (think: death) where it will hit hard, and yet most of the grief people encounter is accumulated. It builds on top of other moments of grief where it then becomes difficult to create much difference between loss I know I’m feeling and loss that is more “never-was”. Grief needs to be witnessed so we can know when it is time to put it down and move more freely. Grief is non-linear and individual-specific; only you will know when the feeling has lightened and when there’s readiness to move beyond the event. ABT provides the space to make the move beyond.

There’s an old saying “Show me someone that has a problem and I’ll show you someone in a relationship.” Relationships, all the kinds, are not easy things to navigate. That’s because there’s someone else involved. And some schools of thought in certain therapy circles believe that our attachment style seeks out healing in future relationships; the thought is “we heal forward in relationships”. This means that we will bring unresolved issues from past relationships (sometimes very weighty issues from very core relationships) into our current relationships in hopes that relationship is secure enough to heal our wound. Although, not many of us know what we are asking this current relationship to heal because we are not aware of what needs to be healed. Let’s figure that out together and allow your relationships to become the relationships that help you develop and grow and heal.
