UPCOMING: The Next Project
Transformational Theatre Therapy
-
What is Theatre Therapy?
Theatre Therapy takes the elements of theatre exercises and focuses those exercises through therapy to help participants act out the trouble spots in life. Theatre therapy is designed to bring more of what happens in life more to light; into more understanding. Theatre therapy is not acting. Theatre therapy is therapy that is done in a way so acting out situations can help us understand what to do.

How does Theatre Therapy work?
Theatre therapy gets the participant on their feet and into motion so that person might have a better understanding of why it is they do the things they do. Specialized exercises are used to bring automatic patterns (thoughts, behaviors, emotions) to light in such a way that allows each participant to consider what keeps happening against what they are trying to have happen. Then, and only then, can anyone then figure out what they actually can do about any of it.

So is this a group or what?
Yes, Transformational Theatre Therapy is done in a group setting. It helps to have others to “play” off of and do the work alongside. The aim here is to put the work on its legs (so to speak) so each participant can actually see what is going on from every other participants’s perspective. 1 set of eyes can only see so much. The more eyes given to any situation tend to see the whole problem; and most importantly, the solution.
(Note: Individual sessions are available outside of group, though are intended to be in conjunction with as to aid/augment/amplify what is being uncovered in this group process.)
